What we do
Agriculture and Nutrition:
We deliver bespoke agribusiness and agriculture productivity training with a special focus on value addition. We link farmers to markets, enhancing agriculture diversification and providing effective extension services. Through training, we enhance the skills and technical knowhow of farmers in Rwanda and improve food security in the community.
To address food insecurity, we also provide nutrition education to promote household savings and purchasing of more nutritious, diverse foods.
We strive to improve the nutritional status of women of reproductive age and children under five, with an emphasis on the 1,000 day window of opportunity from pregnancy until a child’s second birthday.
Youth Development & Economic Empowerment
We address youth employment challenges by empowering young people to earn a sustainable living. The training we provide increases their employability, offers skills to develop business concepts and facilitates access to micro financing solutions through RDI’s national & global partnerships.
We use volunteerism as powerful means of engaging people in rural development challenges. We believe in the vital importance of passing on skills and knowledge through volunteer action. Through sharing their skills, volunteers can affect lasting change in the communities they support, and change lives.
Natural resources for future generations are depleting. RDI works to engage youth in education, advocacy, policy and work projects that reflect the environmental interests and concerns of young people. Our projects address key environmental issues such as water and sanitation, recycling and waste management, sustainable agriculture and conservation.
